Oak Grove Elementary School Fine Arts Academy third-grade students recently made soil paintings in science class, as part of an integrated arts lesson on soil, minerals, rocks and fossils. The students in Marcia Brueggemann’s class brought the soil samples from home, and used the soil to paint images of the layers of soil, the three types of rocks, volcanoes and dinosaur fossils. The students as part of the lesson also learned that the color of soil varies depending on its composition.
