Acworth Mayor Tommy Allegood recently provided Cobb County commissioners with an update on collections and expenditures from the 2011 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.

As of Dec. 31, Acworth has received $2.9 million in SPLOST receipts and spent more than $1.1 million on 17 projects, Allegood said.

By June 30, the city will have accumulated and spent more than $2.6 million, which is 43 percent of the total amount of SPLOST dollars that Acworth will receive this year.
