A fatal crash occured on Sunday afternoon in Acworth, killing a Hiram man and injuring a Douglasville woman, according to the Cobb County Police Department.

Investigators say 32-year-old Michael York of Hiram, the driver of a 2001 Ford Mustang, was traveling north on I-75 off Hickory Grove Road when he lost control of the vehicle for unknown reason.

York's vehicle exited the left side of the roadway, went down an embankment and collided with a tree in the center median. The driver died as a result of his injuries, according to authorities.

The passenger has been identified as 36-year-old Hysie Allen of Douglasville. Allen was transported by air ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
