Efficient City Council Meeting Wraps Up

The Mayor and Board of Aldermen didn't waste time in making progress for the city.

Thursday's meeting efficiently handled its business, approving the consent agenda unanimously in a meeting that took all of seven minutes.

Without any special presentations to make, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen got to business immediately. No members of the public or the Board of Aldermen had any comments to make after the agenda was passed.

  • Paige Williams will serve a term on the Acworth Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Williams' term will expire on January 31, 2012

  • 4 Boy Scout troops and packs will be using in the next two months; the first group will use the park from March 11-12 and the last group has the park from April 29-30.

  • The city has been authorized to acquire the property owned by the Estate of Steve Ross by means of eminent domain.

  • will be used for the homecoming of USMC Cpl. Todd Love on April 9.

  • The roof of the Parks and Recreation office will be replaced at a cost not to exceed $5,500.

  • An HVAC unit at Roberts School Community Center will be replaced at a cost not to exceed $4,500.

  • Old police and public works vehicles are declared as surplus and will be sold online to the highest bidders.

  • The City of Acworth will purchase .79 acres of land at 4476 Northside Drive from .

  • 4484 Moon Street will be acquired for an amount not to exceed $92,000.
