Get Out: Stroller Fitness, Outdoor Movie

Keep your summer going with these local events.

 

The weather this weekend is going to be hot, with temperatures in the low to mid 90s. It may not be the best idea to spend a lot of time outside during the day this weekend, but if you do, slather yourself in sunscreen to keep the UV rays at bay.

1. Stroller Fitness Class

Where/When: Swift-Cantrell Park; Friday, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Why Go: Do you want to get into better shape but need to take care of a small child? This stroller fitness class allows you to do both.

Pricing: $35/resident, $45/non-resident. Register here.

2. Soccer Tryouts

Where/When: Cobb County Parks/Big Shanty; Friday through Sunday, 6 to 9 p.m.

Why Go: Is your son or daughter the next Pele or Landon Donovan, or do you want him or her to stay active over the summer?

3. Dance Studio Open House

Where/When: 3210 Hopeland Industrial Blvd, Powder Springs; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: It's always encouraging for a new business to be welcomed into the community. Additionally, there will be live music and free dance classes!

Pricing: Free

4. Outdoor Movie Series

Where/When: Swift-Cantrell Park; Saturday, 6 p.m.

Why Go: What could be a better way to end your Saturday night than by bringing the kids to an outdoor screening of “Despicable Me?”

Pricing: Free

5. 5K Run/Walk

Where/When: Boling Park; Saturday, 9 a.m.

Why Go: It's a rare day that you can contribute to two great causes: Susan G. Komen For the Cure and your own physical well-being!

Pricing: $20 in advance, $25 at the gate
