A Woodstock man has been arrested and charged in connection with a hit-and-run incident that sent a Cherokee Sheriff's Office crossing guard from Acworth to the hospital.

Sheriff's deputies have arrested Victor Baruchman, 20, of Woodstock and charged him with felony hit and run. He remains at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a $15,000 bond.

Baruchman was running late to his Cherokee County DUI/Drug Court graduation when he allegedly hit the crossing guard in front of Freedom Middle School, according to a press release from the Cherokee Sheriff's Office.

The guard, Jerrold Reaid, 63, of Acworth, suffered a broken ankle when he was struck by Baruchman's vehicle at approximately 3:45 p.m. Tuesday. He was released from Northside Hospital-Cherokee Wednesday morning. 

When detectives with the sheriff's office discovered Baruchman’s 2000 2-door Honda Accord, the “T” had been scraped off the back window and the front bumper of the vehicle had been removed.

The Sheriff's Office had originally described the vehicle as a silver Honda Prelude with a large University of Tennessee stylized "T" on the rear window.
