Building a strong workforce for local communities in Georgia is Chattahoochee Tech's No.1 priority, says Ron Newcomb, the school's new president.

Ron Newcomb, the new president of Chattahoochee Technical College, shared his vision for the school in an on-camera interview with Patch Tuesday morning.

Newcomb was officially announced last week as the school's new leader. Technical College System of Georgia Commissioner Ron Jackson made the announcement after his choice was approved by the state board.

"It's a great feeling, and I'm very humbled to have the opportunity to serve such a wonderful institution," Newcomb said.

Newcomb has served as the interim president of Chattahoochee Technical College since Oct. 1, when former president Sanford Chandler stepped down to assume the role of assistant commissioner for global initiatives. Since July 1, 2009, Newcomb served the college as provost and executive vice president. Prior to the merger of Chattahoochee Technical College with North Metro Technical College and Appalachian Technical College, he served as acting president of NMTC and the vice president of academic affairs and institutional advancement.
