What Would You Improve in Acworth in 2013?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for Acworth, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Acworth to make it an even better place to live?

What is on Acworth's wish list? What is one thing you would improve in 2013?

Tell us in the comment section below or upload a Local Voices blog about why you love living here.

Acworth is a great place to live. It's safer than most cities. It has great restaurants, parks, etc. What I think should be focused on is a plan to attract businesses to our city. Woodstock is about to open the new outlet mall and we should have had the Bobby Cox Sports complex located in Emerson. Things are good but could be better!

Transportation System or at least an express but that goes to Towne Center Mall. I don't have a job, don't have a car, can't afford a car but a bus that goes to the mall would be nice so I can work at the mall or somewhere in that area!!

It would be great if the railroad could figure a way to add a second lane/ extend the second set of tracks further away from downtown, so that we don't have trains stopped, blocking the intersections in downtown whenever trains need to pass each other. I'd love to see the train tracks elevated so we are never interupted by train traffic, that doesn't seem feasible. But extending the train passing lanes to a more remote area would seem reasonable?

It would be great if the dead KMart and empty storefronts in that same center would be cleaned up and revived. The KMart store has been sitting dead now for years and quickly becoming an eyesore. It would make an excellent community center for the town with activities for ALL ages, not just kids or seniors (middle-agers don't just shop and eat at restaurants). It's about the "quality of life" in Acworth, right? This KMart eyesore does not add anything and detracts from our quality of life. It's the first thing you see coming off the interstate. It could be something attractive instead.
