The latest inspections by Cobb Public Health include visits to Cazadores Mexican Restaurant, Gorin's Cafe, Frank's Cajun and Soul Kitchen, Over Look Cafe, Pollo Tropical and Shillings on the Square.
Each item on an inspection form has a point value ranging from 1 to 9 points, with violations deducting points from a best possible score of 100. A sample inspection form is attached. Higher points are taken for items with higher risk to cause illness, while repeat violations take even more points. Letter grades assigned are A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70, and U for less than 70.
Another Allatoona student was recognized, too.
Allatoona High School students took two of the three top spots in the Taste of Kennesaw, a competition that inspires students to pursue their dreams of becoming a chef or owning their own restaurant. First place went to Deja Simon, who plans to attend Fort Valley State University in the fall. Simon won a $3,000 scholarship. Dallas Chapman, who will attend the Art Institute of Atlanta, was the third place winner. Zachary Burris of Kennesaw Mountain High School received second place honors, and plans to enlist in the Army as a food specialist. Carrabba's Italian Grill donated $2,000 toward Simon's scholarship. A local student won't have to worry about he'll get to a national competition next month. That's because California Dreaming's Greg Carter and former Kennesaw Business Association president Debbie Underkofler recently presented North Cobb High School student Daniel Kinslow with a check for $2,000 to cover his expenses for the trip. The KBA reached out to the culinary arts instructor at North Cobb, and offered to help support Kinslow, who will represent Cobb at the 49th Annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, MO. Close to 4,000 people are set to gather in two counties to remember those who lost their battles to cancer, show support to those who survived it, and to raise money to fight the disease. Relay For Life of Cobb County will kick off at 7 p.m. at Jim Miller Park in Marietta. More than 150 local businesses showcased their products and services Thursday at the Cobb Chamber Business-to-Business Expo.
More than 150 local businesses had to opportunity to showcase their products and services Thursday at the Cobb Chamber Business-to-Business Expo. The free event attracted thousands of attendees at the Cobb Galleria Centre right here in the Smyrna-Vinings area. Cobb Chamber Chairman Greg Morgan said this year's expo has been the largest one the chamber has ever held. Exhibitors included Keep it in Cobb, which encourages residents to buy local, and business associations from across the county. Domino's Pizza stores throughout the metro area are looking for a few good men and women. Owning the second largest Domino's franchise in the U.S., Cowabunga Inc. has 91 stores in Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina and they need to hire hundreds of new employees just in the metro Atlanta area, including Acworth. "Domino's is excited to be growing in a competitive market and gaining market share that enables us to hire more than 400 [plus] employees in our franchise alone over the coming months," said Mike Orcutt, owner of Cowabunga Inc.
