An Inside Look to the LaMotte Family

David LaMotte is not only just my cousin, he is a peace activist and award winning singer/songwriter.

In this blog, I wanted to share someone very special and dear to me. We met when I was just a young girl at my grand-parents’ house in Maxton, North Carolina.

David LaMotte is not only just my cousin, but he is a peace activist and award winning singer/songwriter. And to me, he is such an inspiration! His songs share messages about peace and experiences with a little humor thrown in. David LaMotte has recorded 10 CDs and has performed 2000 concerts in 4 different continents. So you can say that he has almost been everywhere. While he has been around the world, he certainly has gained a faithful gathering of wonderful fans of his music and purpose in life. His purpose in life is one that I admire in which makes me so very proud to be a part of this family.

Now I have mentioned “purpose in life” a couple of times. In knowing him and following what he does, I have come to learn that the purpose of Mr. David LaMotte is to bring peace throughout the world, help those in need, and to create breathtaking music for everyone to enjoy.

It all started with a guitar, and an amazing voice. David went on to perform concerts as well as record CD’s and to also perform a song called Your Smile which he performed at the Georgia Special Olympics. For nearly 18 years, David was a full-time musician and spent most of his time on the road. He has been recognized with numerous awards and grants and has also received artist sponsorships from Taylor Guitars and John Pearse Strings.

At the peak of his career in 2008, David accepted a Rotary World Peace Fellowship to study International Relations, Peace and Conflict Resolution at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia.

In 2004, David and his wife Deanna LaMotte founded PEG Partners. This is a non-profit organization that supports schools and libraries in Guatemala. He still continues to volunteer as Program Director for this amazing organization.

David, his wife Deanna and their son Mason, 2, now are back in the United States, living in North Carolina, where David is continuing with his music career as well as working on 2 books and also working as the Program Associate for Peace at the North Carolina Council of Churches.

David has a website which you can find here. On his site, you can find out more about him and listen to some of the songs that he has written over the years.

I had the honor and privilege to attend a house concert that he held here in Acworth, Georgia during one summer, and it was amazing how people traveled from all over to come and see him sing. David is such an inspiration to me and to thousands of other people. Everywhere he goes, he will make you smile, and he will make you feel like you are a part of his life, and his family.

I don’t want to give too much away, as all the information that you will ever want is on his newly designed website. The love that my wonderful cousin has is genuine. He continues today to try and make a difference, and to me, that is so inspiring and could not make me any prouder to be his cousin.
