Welcome to the LaMotte Spot

I am looking forward to writing about various things in our community and hope that you enjoy reading what I have to say.

Before I give the boring story of who I am, I would like to thank Angela Chao and the Acworth Patch for giving me the opportunity to be a voice in the Acworth community. I am looking forward to writing about various things in our community and hope that you enjoy reading what I have to say.

Now to introduce myself; my name is Angela LaMotte, I was born in a little hospital room…Oh wait, I should probably give you the condensed story. Like I said, my name is Angela LaMotte. I am a resident here in the wonderful City of Acworth. I am 33 years old, and am a Criminal Justice Student at .

I was first introduced to the Acworth Patch when I actually met Ms. Chao at the opening session of the ’s . When the link to our was sent to us, it was from the Acworth Patch. I watched the video and then all of a sudden got hooked to their website and the interesting news that they have placed on theirwebsite. So now I am a subscriber to their daily e-mail and I am on it at least 2-10,000 times a day.

You may ask what kind of roll I play in the community. Well, I am very active with special events in the city such as the Citizens Police Academy and any fundraisers that they hold. In fact, in April we had a fundraiser for the Special Olympics called “Jail and Bail.” It’s where local business owners, friends, family, etc. could take a “fake” warrant out on someone and the wonderful guys and gals at the Acworth Police Department would come and pick them up at where they were located. They would be brought into the old jail which is located in Downtown Acworth, and would have to raise bail. All arrests were pre-arranged. That’s just one of the activities that I participated in. I also participated in the 2010 Covering the Bases event with the police department to raise money for the special needs field at the Acworth Sports Complex (Horizon Field).

I am also very active in student activities at my school. I have been in leadership roles in variousclub organizations as well as actively involved. I was one of the founding committee members ofthe Public Safety Club on the North Metro Campus of CTC (Chattahoochee Technical College).

Now, since the major introduction is over, I would like to let you know what I plan on writing about. Well, since I like a vast amount of topics I will write about anything that I think that the readers will enjoy. This means you will find things from family activities to national events and news that also affect the citizens of Acworth such as the increasing rise of gasoline prices. I may go into things such as family recipes that I have learned over the years from my family and hope that you can bring these yummy recipes to your kitchen and share with your family and friends.

I encourage everyone who reads the Acworth Patch to e-mail me at any time and give
suggestions to something that you may want me to talk about. I am very open to talking about new things and giving my opinion about certain topics. I am also open to constructive criticism, and welcome everyone’s opinions about what I am writing about.

Well that I believe is enough about me. I am looking forward to be blogging for the Acworth Patch and I look forward to hearing from my fellow Acworth neighbors. I don’t want to tell everyone everything in the first post because then I won’t be left with anything else to blog.
