Acworth Classes Begin Next Week

You can register for them now.

The 's community classes will begin Tuesday.

To register for the courses, go to www.acworthparksandrecreation.org. Once on the site, look for the "Community Classes" section at the bottom of the homepage and select your preferred class.

Floral Design Class

 Come out and join us for this exciting and unique class! Participants will create a beautiful floral arrangement for their home, office, or as a gift for a loved one. Projects will include wreaths, table arrangements, memorials, and seasonal pieces. All materials are included in the price of the class and all pre-cutting and gluing is done in advance. Classes will be taught by Mimi Hamilton who's formal training in design of flowers stems from many years in the hotel industry. She has had 25 years of design experience in both fresh and silk flowers.

This month's project will be an Oriental Pedestal Arrangement.   

Where: Roberts School Community Center

Cost: $30 for Acworth residents and $35 for non-city residents

When: 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 17

Tap/Ballet

This class is a combination class divided with 20 minutes of tap and 25 minutes of ballet. The technical training is taught through ballet, which in turn helps teach the proper shifting of weight and patterns in movement for tap. Since children naturally respond to music and movement, all of the activities are executed to fun music. Class will be taught by Creative Movement and Dance (CMD), a mobile dance program which operates at locations throughout the Atlanta area.   

Age: 2½ to 5 years old

Where: Roberts School Community Center

Cost: $234 for Acworth residents and $239 for non-city residents 

When: 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Jan. 8

EAGLE Junior Golf

EAGLE Junior Golf is a unique program designed to bring golf and its inherent values directly to children ages 7-13. This PGA recognized program teaches golf basics in a safe and fun learning environment with a low student-teacher ratio and age/ability appropriate instruction. Although this program is designed to introduce new players to the game, classes are progressive in nature and consist of six advancing levels. Classes cover basic golf skills, etiquette, rules, and character traits such as respect, honesty and sportsmanship. Skills testing is done during each class to allow instructors to assess the need for advancement and provide feedback to parents. All equipment is provided.

Age: 7 to 13 years old

Cost: $72 for Acworth residents and $77 for non-city residents 

When: 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays beginning Jan. 10

EAGLET Junior Golf

The EAGLETS Junior Golf program is designed for the littlest golfers (ages 3-6). This program introduces the fundamentals of golf through modified equipment, fun and games! The EAGLETS program teaches the fundamentals of the game including grip, stance, putting, chipping, pitching, and full swing in simple kid friendly language and hands on activities. All equipment is provided. 

Age: 3 to 6 years old

Cost: $72 for Acworth residents and $77 for non-city residents 

When: 5:50 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Thursdays beginning Jan. 10
