Get Out: Swap Meet, Outdoor Movies

If only it were this nice all summer. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in the area will be in the low to high seventies during the day. If you're going to be outdoors at night, bring a jacket as the temperatures will be in the high forties to low fifties. With this gorgeous weather, it's a perfect time to grab the family and head out to one of these weekend events.

Why Go: Do you want to set a personal best in the 5k? This fast, flat course is the perfect opportunity to do so. Additionally, proceeds from the event go to help move two families from squalor to their own homes.

Why Go: It's not every day that you can have lunch with a New York Times bestselling author. Come meet the critically-acclaimed creator of “Savannah Breeze,” “Blue Christmas” and the Callahan Garrity mystery series.

Why Go: Bring a pic-a-nic basket to the park Saturday night and enjoy the new Yogi Bear movie with your family. Bring some lawn chairs or a beach blanket to prove you're smarter than the average person.

Why Go: Yogi Bear might be good for the scared kids, but if your family likes to be scared half to death by cinema's legendary masters of fear, come to this film festival. This is the first week of the festival, so if you can't make it this weekend, there are many more opportunities.
