It's CPR Week in Acworth

The city is offering free classes for the public.

As part of an effort to raise awareness of cardiac emergencies, Acworth officials have desginated this week as CPR Week in the city.

To kick things off, the Acworth Police Department held a free class Saturday to "educate as many people as possible on how they can help and respond to cardiac emergencies," said Capt. Mark Cheatham, the spokesman for the agency.

One of the students in the class was Mayor Tommy Allegood, who will present a proclamation about CPR Week during Thursday's council meeting.
