July 4th Fireworks in August

Plan on coming to Cauble Park on Friday, Aug. 19, for food, music and fireworks.

The (APRD) has rescheduled the rained out Fourth of July fireworks show to coincide with the Love the Lake Concert Series at already scheduled for Friday, Aug 19.

“The big difference between doing the show on July 4 and Aug. 19,” said APRD Recreation Coordinator Jeff Chase, “is that on the Fourth we recognize members of the armed forces. We will not be doing this on Friday.”

Everything else will remain the same, according to Chase. The majority of the food and drink vendors who were at the rained out July 4 event will be coming on Friday, and there will be a fireworks display to cap off the evening's festivities.

Headliners Sons of Sailors will take the stage at 8 p.m. This group can and does play anything, from Jimmy Buffet to Hank Williams (Jr. and Sr.). The Athens natives are looking forward to putting on a great show in Acworth.

In order to avoid any hassles, the APRD has released the following information:

“On the evening of the concert, parking at Cauble Park is by pass only. General public parking is available Downtown and you can walk or take a shuttle down to the park. This is a free shuttle service. If you park downtown, shuttles will pick you up at the parking lot, the parking lot and the .”
