Life in a Post-SPLOST-Vote World

Here are five things you need to know before you head out the door March 16.

1. Weather. If you wake up before 8 a.m., expect to deal with some patchy fog, according to the National Weather Service. After the fog burns off, expect cloudy skies with a high of 65 degrees. Tonight, the temperature will fall to 39 degrees.

2. In case you missed it. : Yesterday, Cobb County voters approved a four-year extension to the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax by only 79 votes. Patch had blow-by-blow coverage of the vote tallies, and arguments for and against extending the tax.

5. On this date. On March 16, 1978, the oil tanker Amoco Cadiz ran aground off the coast of France and broke in half, causing one of the largest oil spills ever.
