News Nearby: Worker Killed at Marina; Bentley Carjacked in Midtown

Rounding up some of the top metro Atlanta headlines for Wednesday, Jan. 23.

An employee of the Little River Marina in Cherokee County died Wednesday after being crushed by a forklift in a workplace accident.

The victim was indentified as Josh Roberts, 21, of Woodstock, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

An arrest has been made in the Tuesday night Midtown carjacking of a Bentley belonging to Robert  “Bobby” Wilson, better known as R&B singer Bobby V.

Atlanta police say a second suspect has not been located as of early Wednesday afternoon during the crime that occurred in a parking lot adjacent to the Hot Beats Recording Studio at 1200 Spring Street just north of 14th Street.

A man jailed on assault and obscene language charges in Cartersville was found to have $13,000 in $100 bills taped to the inside of his underwear, according to  Cartersville Police Department.

Witnesses said Frederick Dorell Pass, 41, of Decatur, wanted to return a recorder at Radio Shack, but became agitated when the manager wanted to ensure it was working properly during the Monday incident.

The Christopher Heitzman Benefit 5K Run takes takes place Saturday morning at Lassiter High School, with proceeds to help pay for medical expenses.

Heitzman, who graduated from Lassiter last spring, was seriously injured in July in a car accident on Trickum Road that killed his classmate, Ryan Aschenbach, and injured another teen.

The benefit includes a raffle and other events in the Lassiter parking lot after the run. Heitzman is confined to a wheelchair and needs more surgeries as he continues his rehabilitation.
