North Cobb Grad Headed to Carnegie Hall

Lynne Parks will perform April 8.

A North Cobb High graduate next month will perform at New York City's Carnegie Hall.

Lynne Parks, a student at Eastern Kentucky University, and 30 other members of the University Singers are scheduled to perform six selections at the world-renowned venue on April 8.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our students to perform in one of the world's most revered concert halls," said Dr. Richard Waters, the director of the University Singers. "The students in the University Singers recognize and embrace their role as representatives and ambassadors for the University, the community of Richmond, and the state of Kentucky whenever they go on tour."

Since it opened in 1891, Carnegie Hall has "been the premier classical music performance in the United States," Waters said. "Every major performer of the last 120 years has graced its stage. The chance to make music in the same space as Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Horowitz, Copland, Bernstein and Pavarotti is extraordinary."
