But despite the publicity, no owner has claimed Gravitt and the man who stopped in I-75 traffic to carry him to safety still has not been identified.

Gravitt is recovering from a fractured pelvis and knee surgery at the Cobb home of Deann Seckinger, one of the people who helped rescue him.

He had his stitches removed Tuesday, and true to his personality, he never flinched or complained.Β

"The veterinarian advised that with both sides of his pelvis fractured and his knee surgery, it will be weeks before he can begin much weight bearing on his left side. But he is walking now and making progress. Deann plans to take him for another assessment at the rehab center," Marietta resident Dana Wachsmann, who was the first to stop and help Gravitt on I-75, told Northeast Cobb Patch.

The veterinarian clinic taught Seckinger and Wachsmann how to do most of Gravitt's rehab exercises and treatments at home to keep costs down. He will need ongoing treatments and follow-up x-rays to assess his bone healing.

"Thanks to generous donations we have raised $5,000 of the needed $7,500," Wachsmann said.

Donations from $2 to $1,000 have been received.
