Acworth Opry Opens Its Season

Toe-tapping music is part of first in a series of summer concerts at Logan Farm Park.

It was a beautiful evening for toe-tapping music Saturday night in Acworth.

The first of several concerts for the Acworth Opry at Logan Farm Park brought out dozens of folks with lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets.

The concert series takes place the second Saturday of each month through October and begins at 5:30 p.m. Concessions are available, including barbecue sandwiches from one of the event sponsors, Barbecue Street Restaurant, in Kennesaw.

The first act, Old Dixie Highway, took the stage, followed by the Luther's Mountain Band, which delighted the crowd with bluegrass tunes featuring a fiddle, banjo and guitar.

Former Acworth resident Melissa Dalton was crocheting a jacket for her 13-year-old daughter while listening to the music. “Just enjoying the nice weather, good music and being with friends,” said Dalton, adding she was glad to find something outside to do on a beautiful early summer evening.

One Acworth resident remarked that it was great to have something like this to enjoy “and we don’t even have to go to Nashville!”

Eric Cain and Grady Clark of 41 Management and Productions said they have worked this year with the Acworth Parks and Recreation Department to promote the Acworth Opry.

“We changed locations a couple of years ago to Logan Farm Park, and it has worked out really well,” said Cain. “We are looking forward to a great summer season.”
