The Weekender: Mad Hatter Tea Party & Fashion Show

This weekend get out to the Mad Hatter Tea Party & Fashion Show in Acworth, a day of baseball and family fun at Sewell Park, the Big Shanty Festival in Kennesaw and the Georgia Native Plant Society's Annual Spring Plant Sale in Marietta.

Mad Hatter Tea Party & Fashion Show

  • When: Sunday, April 21, 2:30 to 5 p.m.
  • Where: Impact Dance and Performing Arts Center 4246 S Main St, Acworth, GA 30101
  • What: Food, beverages, raffles, door prizes, fashion show by Stein Mart, Glitzy Chiks, ecologie, and DanceMax.

Big Shanty Festival

  • When: Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, April 21 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Where: Downtown Kennesaw on both sides of Main Street
  • What: Come enjoy the 37th annual Big Shanty Festival. The downtown Kennesaw area will be transformed into a giant family-friendly festival. There will be a variety of activities to entertain all ages as well as more than 200 booths featuring a vast array of one-of-a-kind and homemade crafts.

2013 Family Fun Day

  • When: Saturday, April 20, 1 to 5:30 p.m.
  • Where: Sewell Park, 2055 Lower Roswell Rd, Marietta, GA
  • What: Enjoy a day of baseball and family fun at Sewell Park. There will be activities for all ages, including: a bounce house, inflatable slide, dunk tank, face painting, silent auction, MLB pitch, hit and run competition, and food and frozen treats. 

Georgia Native Plant Society's Annual Spring Plant Sale

  • When: Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Where: McFarlane Nature Park, 280 Farm Rd SE, Marietta, GA 30067
  • What: The Georgia Native Plant Society's Annual Spring Plant Sale offers native plants for every garden whether you have sun or shade; wet or dry soil; or any combination in between including ground covers, ferns, shrubs and trees. There will be native plant experts to help with your plant selections.

Circle of Prayer at Emory-Adventist Hospital

  • When: Friday, April 19, 6 p.m.
  • Where: Emory-Adventist Hospital, 3949 S Cobb Dr SE, Smyrna, GA
  • What: Smyrna and Cobb County's faith community will join hands to form a "Circle of Prayer" Friday evening. Members of more than 300 churches in Cobb County have been invited to participate.

Community Shred Event

  • When: Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Where: 4624 Camp Highland Rd SE, Smyrna, GA 30082
  • What: Petersen Partners of Prudential Georgia Realty and Smyrna’s Twisted Taco will be hosting a free community shred event.
