Small Business Q&A: Artist Amy Moore
Owner Amy Moore shares what it is like to run an art business.
Acworth Patch contributor April Zlotnik talked with Amy Moore, who owns her own art business painting murals.
Acworth Patch: What's the hardest thing about being a small-business owner in Acworth?
Amy Moore: The hardest thing, because of what I do, is getting work. Because what I do is a luxury. It’s not a necessity.

Acworth Patch: What's the best thing about your job?
Moore: I don’t feel like I work because I love what I do so much. It really is fun.

Acworth Patch: What is the best thing about Acworth?
Moore: I like the people around here. They are very friendly and neighborly and willing to help one another.
Acworth Patch: Why did you choose to open up your business in Acworth?
Moore: It was a dream of mine and at the time my husband said, “If this is what you want to do, go for it.” I had already done a little work for some clients in Acworth, so we just stayed here.
Acworth Patch: How long have you lived in Acworth?
Moore: 10 years.
Acworth Patch: Why did you pick this particular kind of business?
Moore: I have done art since I could hold a crayon and I got a college education in it. I have bachelors in studio art from the University of Georgia. It is just something that I love to do. My art is so personable to my clients that it makes such a difference in their own homes. It makes it feel like home to them.
Acworth Patch: What are some of the services you offer that people don't know about?
Moore: I have actually helped people pick colors to paint inside their home. Some people find it difficult to find new wall color. And as far as my canvas paintings, a lot of people don’t know that I have done a few of those as gift to people. Most of my work is residential. I have done quite a few pieces for church nurseries, but 90 percent of my work has been residential.
Acworth Patch: Is there anything else you would like to share about your business?
Moore: I’ve never advertised. I’ve painted about 80 murals and I’ve never advertised. Most of my work is from word of mouth. I had been referred by people.
