Small Business Q&A: Cedar Plantation
Owner Brigita Rowe shares what it is like to run a reception hall.

Acworth Patch: What's the hardest thing about being a small-business owner in Acworth?
Brigita Rowe: I don’t’ really have any negative things about being a small business owner. The only thing would be that people don’t know we are here. I can’t really put out a sign saying “Cedar Plantation: doing weddings.” I think the hardest thing has nothing to do with the city. In the city of Acworth, everybody is great. Everybody works together and I haven’t really had any problems that I can complain about.
Acworth Patch: What's the best thing about your job?
Rowe: I enjoy talking to the brides. And being able to take a home that was built in 1870 and to convert it into an events facility like I did and doing the gardens outside.
Acworth Patch: What is the best thing about Acworth?
Rowe: The best thing about Acworth is its people. I’ve been here for 11 years, so I’ve seen it grow from practically nothing into a fabulous little hometown. And that is what we are noted for, the hometown feel, and it certainly has that.
Acworth Patch: Why did you choose to open up your business in Acworth?
Rowe: Because my real estate agent showed me the Cedar Plantation and I fell in love with it.
Acworth Patch: Why did you pick this particular kind of business?
Rowe: My background is in sales and marketing in hotels. When I had the opportunity to go into my own business, I read a business plan for a bed and breakfast which was actually downtown Marietta. I said, “I can do that.” So I’ve been doing it ever since. It was the best move I ever made.
Acworth Patch: What are some of the services you offer that people don't know about?
Rowe: We do any kind of event that people would like, primarily weddings and receptions.
Acworth Patch: Is there anything else you would like to share about your business?
Rowe: I really enjoy coming to work everyday because it is always a pleasure and I think the best thing is that I’m able to do what I really love to do.
