A global company that provides vehicle roofing systems will soon open a plant in an area of Acworth that extends into Cherokee County.
Inalfa Roof Systems, a global supplier of vehicle roofing systems, will open a manufacturing plant in southwest Cherokee County, Gov. Nathan Deal announced on Monday.
The company's move will be a $17.1 million investment and provide an additional 300 jobs to the area.
Danny Coralis, vice president for North American Operations for Inalfa Roof Systems, said the company "couldn't be more pleased" with the location.
"The state and local economic development teams, as well as Georgia Power, have all been extremely helpful in introducing us to this strategic location and the advantages of doing business in Georgia," he added.
The company will open the plant within the Cherokee 75 Corporate Park development, located on Highway 92 about two miles east of Interstate 75.
The corporate park is currently under construction, and should be completed by the spring.
Once construction gets underway, the manufacturing plant is expected to be up and running in January 2014.
The new facility in Georgia will have an array of job opportunities for residents, including in the areas of engineering, operations and supply chain, purchasing and manufacturing associates.
The company expects to start hiring later this year and continue hiring through the first half of 2015 until the plant is fully operational.
“Inalfa joins the dynamic auto industry Georgia has cultivated for more than 100 years,” Gov. Deal said. “Our central location in the Southeast, deep workforce resources and logistics infrastructure have attracted well over 300 companies and continue to give the state a competitive advantage in this manufacturing sector.”
Inalfa supplies sunroofs and open roofing systems for car manufacturers such as Hyundai Kia, Ford, General Motors, Volvo, Chrysler Group and BMW Group.
The company has its global headquarters based in Venray, The Netherlands, and a global workforce of 3,000 employees.
Inalfa’s North American headquarters is located in Michigan, and it operates a total of four plants in Michigan and Mexico. It also has facilities in Slovakia, South Korea, China, Brazil and Japan, and is currently also expanding into Poland.
