Acworth resident receives Y honor
Lisa Skelly, a resident of Acworth, is receiving the YMCA of Metro Atlanta’s 2013 Volunteer of the Year award for her service at the Cowart Family/Ashford Dunwoody YMCA.
“Lisa is a true cause-driven leader,” says Julie Koriakan, executive director of the Cowart Family/Ashford Dunwoody Y. “She understands how import the Y’s role is in the development of children. She can engage pre-teens and teens during their formative years, helping them develop into inspired teen leaders.”
Skelly is a volunteer advisor to the Y’s Leaders Club. Students develop leadership skills and a giving attitude through volunteer activities in the community, along with leadership training and other programs.

“The Y is committed to youth,” says Skelly. “People rise to the level or expectation set for them. The Y sets a high expectation level which creates a positive impact on the teens, their parents and in the local community.”
Skelly is the Children’s Ministry Director for Eagle Pointe Church in Acworth.
