Looking for a Terrific Family Outing?

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets filled to the brim as you enjoy the music provided by KSU students.

Kennesaw State University hosts the fourth annual Star Spangled Spectacular.

Fireworks, and outdoor concert and fun with family and friends is totally free as Kennesaw State’s College of the Arts kicks off the Starlight Summer Concert series on Monday, June 26, 2011. The Green at the center of campus will open at 6:30 p.m. with the concert scheduled to start at 8 p.m.

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and picnic baskets filled to the brim as you enjoy the music provided by KSU musical theater ensemble students. A rousing rendition of the poem “Casey at the Bat” with narration by Harrison Long, an Assistant Professor of Theatre, Performance Studies and Dance, will surely delight the baseball fans in your family.

The Georgia Symphony Orchestra (formerly known as the Cobb Symphony) will delight the audience with music that includes patriotic numbers, familiar music from film and theater classics and are guaranteed to put your toes in the mood to tap.

David Daly, the director of the Dr. Bobbie Bailey & Family Performance Center is the coordinator of this terrific yearly event for the community. "The evening," Daly explains, "finishes with a bang as the orchestra plays favorite Sousa marches to accompany the fireworks display."

Janet and Bryan McGovern from Canton, came to watch the fireworks for the first time last year. They brought their son Padraig, who just finished Kindergarten. ““It was a fun and family friendly evening for us. Padraig loved the fireworks show,” Janet said. “We plan on attending future concerts at KSU."
