5 Things: City Council Meeting Tonight

Here are the things you need to know before heading out the door on June 2.

1. Weather. Although there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms today, acccording to the National Weather Service, the hot and sunny weather continues, without much relief from the wind. High temp is near 94 degrees, and a low temp around 66 degrees is expected for tonight.

2. In case you missed it. : The driver of the vehicle that struck a pedestrian yesterday in Acworth was arrested. Authorities arrested 19-year-old Dalton Mason at his home in Acworth this morning. Mason is currently being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center on several charges. The victim remains in critical condition.

5. What about June 2. On June 2, 1886, Grover Cleveland became the first U.S. president to get married in the White House. On this day in 1924, Congress granted U.S. citizenship to all American Indians. Also on June 2, 1953, Queen Elizabeth II of Britain was crowned in Westminster Abbey.
