5 Things: Memorial Day Service at Cauble Park

Here are the things you need to know before heading out the door on May 27.

1. Weather. There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. today, with the rest of the day expected to be mostly sunny, with a high temp near 81 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Calm wind will be between 5 and 10 mph. Going into the Friday night, showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. are likely, with partly cloudy skies and a low temp around 59 degrees. The weekend forecast stays dry, with high temperatures in the high-80s and lows in the mid-60s.

2. In case you missed it. : Tim Lee was scheduled to take an early flight to New York Thursday morning to meet with officials of credit agencies overseeing Cobb County's prized Triple-A rating. They're not the only people the Cobb Commission chairman has to convince about the county's fiscal health in the coming months as he and his colleagues prepare for another painful budget process.Β 

3. Happening. The Acworth Memorial Day service will be held Saturday, May 28 at 10 a.m. at Patriots Point at , home of the Veterans Memorial to honor the men and women who have given their lives in the line of duty. Brigadier General Jerry J. Bradford, retired U.S Army, will be the keynote speaker at the ceremony.
