Acworth Youth Wins NFL PP&K Atlanta Falcons Championship

Here are the things you need to know before starting the day on Dec. 20.

2. Watch the . The school adopted West's platoon last year and began to send care packages to Afghanistan, where he was deployed. But shortly after, West was injured in an IED explosion in October 2010. The school continued to support West's platoon and followed through his recovery the past year.

3. Acworth Youth Wins 2011 NFL Punt, Pass, & Kick Team Championship: The hosted the local and sectional NFL Punt, Pass, & Kick Competitions in September and October. The free competition sponsored by the NFL allows youth from ages 8 to 15 to display their talent in punting, passing, and kicking.

eighth-grader Pete Derkay advanced through the first two levels of competition, winning each section convincingly. He moved on to the Atlanta Falcons Team Championship and won the team championship challenge as well. Pete now qualifies to advance to the National Punt, Pass, & Kick Championship that will be held at one of the 32 NFL stadiums during the 2012 NFL Playoffs.
