Celebrate Earth Day and Go Green

Here are the things you need to know before heading out the door on April 22.

1. Weather. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. today, with cloudy skies and a high temp near 76 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Southeast wind is between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. Going into tonight, showers and thunderstorms are likely before 8 p.m., with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 58 degrees. Sunny weather is in for this weekend, with high temps in the mid-80s.

5. What about April 22. Today is Earth Day, a day to bring awareness and appreciation for our nature. It was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in that was first held on April 22, 1970. Earth Day is now coordinated internationally by the Earth Day Network, and is celebrated in more than 175 countries annually.
