Easter Bunny Making Its Way to Acworth

Here are the things you need to know before heading out the door on April 4.

1. Weather. Thunderstorms are expected before 8 a.m., with a high near 58 degrees and northwest wind between 15 and 20 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Gusts can be as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent, according to the NWS. Going into tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low around 33 and northwest wind between 5 and 10 mph. Sunny weather is in the forecast for Wednesday.

2. In case you missed it. : Being handcuffed and put behind bars is usually not an occasion someone would bring family and friends along to celebrate for, but that was the case on April Fools' Day in Acworth this year. Citizens who participated in the "Jail and Bail" fundraising event held by the were getting "arrested" to support the Georgia Special Olympics. : Allatoona High School's riflery team competed in the 2011 Georgia High School Association (GHSA) State Riflery Championship on Saturday, where 14 teams and more than 60 individual contestants participated. The four-member Allatoona team finished eighth in three position air rifle.

3. Happening now. The Easter Bunny will be bringing 20,000 eggs filled with candy and toys to the Acworth Parks and Recreation Easter Egg Hunt this year. The egg hunt will be held on Saturday, April 16 at the Acworth Sports Complex located at 4000 South Main St., for children under the age of 12. The children will be divided into four age groups. Within each age group there will be "Prize Eggs" that can be redeemed for great prizes.

There will also be a Special Needs Easter Egg Hunt on the Horizon Field. This hunt will begin at 10:00 a.m., and is for children under the age of 12 with Special Needs. For more information on the Easter Egg Hunt contact Jeff Chase at jchase@acworth.org or the .
