First Annual Aviation Space Summer Camp Open for Registration

Here are the things you should know before heading out the door Mar. 10.

1. Weather. There is a slight chance of showers before 1 p.m. today, with mostly cloudy skies and a high temp near 53 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. West wind is between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Going into tonight, there will be a low temp around 33 degrees and northwest wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

2. In case you missed it. : Calendar talk was the hot issue at last night's town hall meeting at held by member Kathleen Angelucci. The discussion peaked in intensity when Angelucci said the online calendar survey taken by community members was inaccurate and "not scientific." About 300 people packed into the school media center to attend the town hall with Angelucci, who represents North Cobb and Kell High Schools in Post 4.

3. Happening now. The Museum of Aviation's Education Outreach takes flight with LIFTOFF! ROCKETRY providing its first annual Aviation and Space Summer Camp being held at in Acworth this July. Students will learn the history of aviation in Georgia, design aircraft with control surfaces, construct and launch rockets, participate in tons of activities, enjoy hands-on exploration of an authentic F-15 Cockpit on site, and much more.

Enrollment is limited. Visit the LIFTOFF! website and click on the tab: Summer Camp. You can read about the camp, and download the Handbook/Enrollment forms. You can hold your spot by sending in the forms with a $50 non-refundable deposit.
