5 Things: Pro Wakeboard Tour Kicks Off

Here are the things you need to know before heading out the door on May 19.

1. Weather. Today is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high temp near 82 degrees and calm wind around 5 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Going into Thursday night, temperature will drop to a low around 51 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. West wind will be around 5 mph.

2. In case you missed it. : couldn’t hold a four-run lead in the second game of a doubleheader at Thomson on Tuesday night, losing the game and the AAA quarterfinal playoff series in extra innings to end the Buccaneers’ season.

3. Happening. kicks off today in Acworth, and you wouldn't want to miss the actions on water and the fun on land. The main event will take place on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., where tickets are required. The first two days of the Pro Tour, Thursday and Friday begins at 9 a.m. and ends around 4 p.m., and are free to the public. On land, fans will be able to experience great food and music, athlete autograph signings, chances to win free stuff, and shopping at the most cutting-edge stores for water-sports equipment including boats, wakeboards, wakeskates, sunglasses and the latest in wakeboarding and surfing fashions. This is a family oriented event and will provide a fun filled day of sun, surf and excitement for all who attend.

5. What about May 19. On this day in 1936, Margaret Mitchell world famous novel Gone with the Wind was published. It would later be awarded the Pulitzer Prize. On May 19, 1962, a birthday salute to U.S. President John F. Kennedy took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Marilyn Monroe's sultry rendition of Happy Birthday was the highlight.
