New Senior Apartments Break Ground
City and construction officials were on hand to turn the first shovelful of dirt at the former Carruth Street Homes.
The Mayor and Board of Aldermen helped turn over the first symbolic shovelfuls of earth to break ground at the new Legacy at Walton Overlook senior apartments at the site of a former housing project.
The old homes were demolished over the summer and new construction will now begin. It is expected that the homes will be ready for occupation by 2012.
Representatives of Walton Communities LLC, Walton Construction Services LLC and the Marietta Housing Authority attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
