Here are the things you should know before heading out the door Jan. 18.

1. Weather: Rain is likely to fall today with a high temp near 49 and a low around 35 going into Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service. Most precipitation will occur before 1 a.m., with little wind. Wednesday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high near 47 degrees.

Volunteers from the Acworth Achievers Mentoring and After School Program celebrated the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. by making the holiday a day on for community service instead of a day off.

4. It is not too late to register for the 2011 Daddy Daughter Dance hosted by the . The event will be Saturday, Jan. 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. at in Acworth. The theme is "Masquerade Ball." Fathers and daughters, dressed in their colorful ballroom attire, will be presented with masks on arrival, adding to the mystery and excitement of the evening. The event is open to all girls up to age 13 with Dad or an adult male escort. The cost is $25 for city of Acworth residents and $35 for others.
