Pre-registration Open for Day’s Car and Bike Show

Here are the things you need to know before heading out the door on April 8.

1. Weather. There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m., with the rest of the day expected to be mostly cloudy, according to the National Weather Service. High temperature is near 79 degrees, with calm wind between 5 and 10 mph, and gust as high as 15 mph. Tonight, there will be a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m. Temperature will drop to a low around 60 degrees. Over the weekend, the NWS predicts occassional, with Saturday and Sunday being mostly sunny during the daytime, and high temperatures in the mid-80s.

2. In case you missed it. : The Acworth community is getting ready for the homecoming of Cpl. Todd Love. Love is an Acworth native and a Recon Marine, who suffered severe injuries sustained from an IED explosion while on duty in Afghanistan in October 2010. As a result of the explosion, Love lost parts of both legs and his left arm. A homecoming event for Love is scheduled for Saturday. 3. Happening now. Pre-registration is open for Day’s First Annual Car and Bike
Show. The event will be held on June 11th from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and all proceeds will go towards the Horizon League. All makes and models welcome. Registration fee at gate is $25. Pre-register now for $20 at www.dayschevrolet.com. For more information contact: Jennifer Still at 770-974-4242.

5. What about April 8. On April 8, 1913, the 17th Amendment was ratified, requiring the direct election of U.S. senators by popular vote rather than by the state legislators. On the same date in 1973, Artist Pablo Picasso passed away.
