Suspect in Acworth Hit-and-Run Arrested

His license was suspended.

A North Carolina man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run in Acworth.

Between 6:37 and 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jason Matthew Sams of Candler, NC, exited a gas station at 3507 Baker Rd. and struck a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier on the driver's side of the vehicle, according to an arrest warrant.

No one was injured in the accident, but Sams allegedly "fled the scene of the accident, parked his vehicle, and fled on foot from his vehicle," according to the warrant.

The vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet Impala with a North Carolina tag, was stolen, police said. And Sams' North Carolina license was suspended.

He was arrested Friday night on charges that include hit-and-run, theft by receiving stolen property, driving on a suspended license and failure to yield when entering or crossing a roadway.

He remains in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.
