Turkey Shoot to Benefit Air Rifle Team

Here are the things you need to know before starting the day on Nov. 14.

1. Weather. Today is expected to be cloudy, with a high near 68 and calm wind between 5 and 10 mph, according to the National Weather Service. A 40 percent chance of showers is in the forecast for tonight, with a low around 57.

2. In case you missed it. Bucs Charge into Second Round, 47-21: Allatoona trailed at halftime but controlled the second half against Franklin County for its first football playoff win.

3. Happening. A Turkey Shoot will take place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, at the VFW Post 5408, located at 4764 Cobb Parkway NW in Acworth. The shoot is sponsored by the American Legion Post 304 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5408, and proceeds will benefit the Precision Air Rifle Team.

Prizes will include frozen turkeys and other items. Ammo will be provided, and 12, 20 and 410 gauge shotguns will be permitted. Entry fee for the event will be $5 per person, and guns will be available, if needed. For information please contact Kirk Ware at 404-405-3167.
