World Water Day, Allatoona PTSA Scholarships

Here are the things you should know before heading out the door March 22.

1. Weather. Sunny skies are expected today, with a high temp near 81 degrees and calm wind between 10 and 15 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will drop to 55 degrees tonight with cloudy skies and west wind around 5 mph. There will be a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon, but temperatures will stay in the high 70s, according to the NWS.

2. In case you missed it. : In order to help students improve their scores on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT), Barber Middle School has begun hosting intensive study sessions each Monday and Wednesday, which are referred to as a “full-court press.” These sessions begin at either 8:10 a.m. or 4:15 p.m.

3. Happening now.  is hosting a senior day on March 25. is taking a bus for students to attend the event. The cost is $6. If you are interested in going on this field trip, please stop by the Counseling Office to pick up a permission form. You must pay at the time you register.

The Allatoona PTSA announced that it will award four $500 scholarships to graduating seniors at . The scholarship requirements and criteria are on the application. Deadline to apply is March 31.

5. What about March 22. Today is World Water Day, an initiative formed at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is celebrated annually on March 22, focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources, according to UN-Water, an entity within the United Nations system that is responsible for the coordination and planning of the World Water Day.
