Qualifying to Fill Acworth Alderman Post Seat Begins Monday

To be eligible to run for office, an individual must have been a resident of the City of Acworth since May 20, 2013, and must be a qualified municipal voter.

Qualifying begins Monday for the Special Election to fill the unexpired term for the Acworth Alderman Post 3 term that expires Dec. 31, 2015.

The qualifying dates include March 10 and 11 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and March 12 (8 a.m. to 12 p.m.).

Last month, Acworth Alderman Bob Weatherford announced his intentions to run for the District 1 commission seat being vacated by retiring northwest Cobb Commissioner Helen Goreham.

Weatherford qualified to run for Goreham's open seat last week.

The election to fill Weatherford's seat will take place on May 20. To be eligible to run for office, an individual must have been a resident of the City of Acworth since May 20, 2013, and must be a qualified municipal voter.

To qualify an individual must complete the qualification paperwork, available in the City Clerk's Office, and pay the qualifying fee of $396.
