Acworth Police Ready to 'Cover the Bases'

Fundraising event for special needs athletes and Horizon Field is Sept. 13-14.

The Acworth Police Department is once again ready to "Cover the Bases." The sixth annual fundraising event will be held Sept. 13-14 at Horizon Field.

Proceeds help fund scholarships for special needs athletes, provide equipment for participants and pays for maintenance at the only special-needs ball field in Cobb.

The Acworth Police Department has raised some $100,000 during the past five years so that hundreds of athletes can take to the field.
