Memorial Day Ceremony Saturday in Acworth

The City will dedicate a paver to be placed at the Memorial in honor of Army 1st Lt. Jonathan "J.P." Walsh who was killed in action in 2012 while serving with the 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan. 1st Lt. Walsh was a graduate of North Cobb High.

The Ceremony to honor those who have given their lives in service to our country will be held on Saturday, May 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Veterans Memorial at Patriots Point.

Veterans and current servicemen will pay tribute to brave men and women who have fought and died for our nation. Engraved pavers dedicated to those who have served in our armed forces that have been purchased since the previous Veterans Day will be presented at the event.

Pastor Marlon Longacre will be the keynote speaker with members of both American Legion Post 304 and VFW Post 5408 participating in the ceremony.
