Cobb Does Not Need Any Stinking Common Core

Cobb does not need the federal government using Common Core telling us what to do when it comes to education. Cobb should be the decider when it comes to education standards like how many letters should be in the alphabet. Are there too many consonants or too few vowels? That should be a local decision. Many in Cobb think that there are too many words and most lack a precise meaning. Let Cobb create its own dictionary with fewer words and new meanings.

In math, the number zero is of Arabic origin and automatically a suspicious number. Do we really need zeros? This is definitely a matter to be decided locally. Is one plus one truly two? The federal government should have no say so in the matter of addition or subtraction. Under local Cobb rule division and multiplication could be eliminated.

Tired of reading from left to right? How about from right to left? Why not vertically? Do you prefer top to bottom or bottom to top? These are all local decisions and the federal government should have no say in the matter.

When it comes to history, Cobb textbooks should reflect that in the war of northern aggression, when loyal heroic defenders of freedom fired on Fort Sumter, it was in self-defense. The South was defending its way of life and the African visitors, exchange students, and agricultural interns in our midst. The war wasn’t lost. General Lee would have never surrendered. It was a northern impersonator of the General who was at Appomattox. Like North Korea, the South remains undefeated, just in a state of permanent cease fire. You pretty much get that idea when you read the Marietta Daily Journal.

Common Core has no place in choosing standardized Science books. Cobb is dying to get evolution out of science and creationism in. Losing one expensive law suit about evolution is not enough for Cobb. They are ready to lose again and again. Why not name the planets after the apostles? The opportunities for reinvention are limitless when average folks don’t get involved in politics.

Former Congressman Bob Barr, the Madison Forum, the majority of the Cobb school board, the Cobb and Georgia Republican parties desperately want to loosen the steel grip of the federal government, through the use of Common Core on Cobb’s school system.

Well actually, the federal government had nothing to do with the creation of Common Core or its implementation. It was state officials, mostly Republican governors who decided that there should be a voluntary program that set a few minimum standards so that the alphabet in one state would be the same as the next.

The Chicken Little Club of Cobb County is frantically spinning around getting dizzier and dizzier proclaiming that a conspiracy is falling out of the sky. Its name is Common Core and everyone should be running around yelling, “The sky is falling. The sky is falling.” The Chicken Little’s are always good for a laugh but this time they are messing with our public school system and the Cobb school board is refusing to buy textbooks for some of the grades.

Encourage the Chicken Little’s in your neighborhood to find a different conspiracy, like the one they had last month or the one before. They are conspiracy addicts and will never change. If only we could get them to obsess again on UFO’s, fluoride, agenda 21, Benghazi, or the always popular IRS. Just keep your hands off Cobb public education.
