Jerald 'JD' Grooms, 77: Drove More than 30 Million Miles as a Trucker

Mr. Jerald David “JD” Grooms, age 77, of Acworth, GA, formerly of Rocky Ford, GA, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013.

Mr. Grooms was a lifelong cross country trucker who drove more than 30 million miles over his long career.  He loved gardening, socializing with friends across the county and was said to have never met a stranger.

Mr. Grooms is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Hill of Acworth, GA, grandchildren Christina Marie Van Alstine, of Acworth, GA, Kimberly Ann Hill-Danesi, Galveston, TX, and great-grandchild, Julia Marie Van Alstine.  He was predeceased by his brother John Grooms.

A memorial service was held on Friday, June 28, 10:00 AM, in the chapel of A.G. Rhodes, located at 900 Wylie Rd. SE, Marietta, GA 30067.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the A.G. Rhodes Garden Fund-Memo “JD” Grooms.  Condolences at GeorgiaFuneralCare.com.
