Citizens Police Academy Taking Applications

During the 12-week academy, participants will receive a basic understanding of the operations of the Acworth Police Department and law enforcement.

The is taking applications for its 12th annual . The Academy will begin on March 6, and will be held every Tuesday 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. (except for the week of Spring Break), and end on May 22.

During the 12-week academy, participants will have the opportunity to interact with officers and receive a basic understanding of the operations of the Acworth Police Department and law enforcement. Upon completion of the course graduates will be invited to ride along with officers during a tour of duty. All classes will be held at the police department.

Non-residents will be required to be sponsored for the Academy by an Acworth business owner, Citizens Police Academy graduate or an Acworth police officer. The class is free but space is limited.

Participants must be 21 years of age and submit to a background screening. Those who are interested may click here to submit an online application or download the form here and mail it or fax it to 678-801-4059. Applications can also be picked up in person at the .
