Robert F. Graves died May 28, five days after the two-vehicle crash near Marietta. According to his obituary, Graves served 40 years in the U.S. Army and is survived by a son, two grandsons and their families.
According to an email from Sgt. Dana Pierce on Tuesday, Graves was driving a 2013 Cadillac ATS southbound on Johnson Ferry Road shortly after 7 p.m. on May 23. For reasons unknown, he turned left into the path of an Acura MDX, which was being driven by 48-year-old Ali Ozyazgan of Marietta.
As a result of the collision, both Graves and Ozyazgan were transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Pierce said Tuesday that Ozyazgan’s injuries were non-life threatening, but that Graves died from his injuries last Wednesday.
Although the investigation continues, no charges are expected to be filed in this case.
