Acworth Man Indicted on Multiple Charges in Ex-Wife's Death
If John Steven Kristofak is convicted of all charges, he could face a maximum penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus 40 years.
A Cobb County grand jury has indicted an Acworth man in the December 2012 murder of his ex-wife at her East Cobb home.
John Steven Kristofak was indicted Thursday on murder and other charges, Kim Isaza, the spokeswoman for District Attorney Vic Reynolds, said this afternoon.
Donna Kristofak, 48, was found unresponsive when police arrived at her home on Tall Pine Drive near Walton High School around noon Dec. 22, 2012. She later died at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

A murder warrant obtained by East Cobb Patch said she was stabbed once in the upper torso during a confrontation in the garage.

The District Attorney’s Office said today that it believes that Kristofak killed his former wife. Kristofak has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, burglary, aggravated stalking and two firearms-possession charges.
If he is convicted of all charges, he could face a maximum penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus 40 years.
Mr. Kristofak’s next scheduled court appearance is at 9 a.m. March 20 before Cobb Superior Court Chief Judge Adele Grubbs, for a probation-revocation hearing on prior stalking charges.
Attorney Mitch Durham of Marietta has been appointed to represent Kristofak.
