Acworth PD: Stay Safe This Holiday Season

Department offers tips on safe holiday shopping.

The Acworth Police Department on its Facebook page is reminding holiday shoppers to remain extra vigilant this season with these tips:

  1. Report suspicious activity immediately. We hear far to often "I didn't want to bother y'all." Call 911 if it doesn't look or feel right.
  2. Bring a friend – strength in numbers.
  3. Park in a well-lit area that is not secluded.
  4. Don't make multiple trips to your vehicle. This is an invitation for thieves.
  5. Tell people when you plan on returning home.
  6. Avoid wearing expensive jewelry.
  7. Do not carry large amounts of cash – front pockets for whatever cash you do have.
  8. Be cautious of strangers who approach you for any reason. They may be attempting to distract you.
  9. Ensure that the inside of your vehicle is bare. Thieves will visually inspect the inside of vehicles when deciding what car to break into.
  10. Try not to overload yourself with packages. It is important that you have complete mobility at all times.
