Acworth Woman Injured in I-75 Crash

The woman and a 6-year-old girl from Dallas were airlifted to Atlanta hospitals following the 7 a.m. crash Thursday.

An Acworth woman and Dallas child were seriously injured in a Thursday crash that snarled traffic on Interstate 75 in Cartersville.

According to the accident report, a 1998 Honda Civic driven by a Cartersville woman who was cited for improper lane change, around 7 a.m. swiped the 1996 Ford Ranger in which the injured woman and 6-year-old child were travelling in the right southbound lane at mile marker 289.

The Ranger went airborne and flipped, ejecting the woman and child, who were airlifted to Atlanta hospitals. The woman was taken to Grady Hospital with a right foot injury and the child to Scottish Rite with hip and leg pain.

Witnesses told police the woman driving the Civic weaved in and out of traffic and passed other vehicles before the impact. She told police she did not see the Ranger as she attempted to change lanes.
