Another Drowning Reported at Lake Allatoona

Officials with the Department of Natural Resources say a man drowned at Lake Allatoona on Saturday.

Varun Krishnamurthy, 27, from India, reportedly jumped off a tube into the water at a Tanyard Creek boat ramp and never resurfaced. Authorities, who do not think the victim was wearing a life vest, recovered the Krishnamurthy’s body around 8:30 p.m.

The drowning came eight days after a 6-year-old boy drowned in the lake near the Sweetwater Campground in Canton.

In late May, an 18-year-old drowned at the lake about a half-mile away from the scene of Saturday’s accident.
